Dry Riser Testing and Maintenance

Dry risers control the delivery of large volumes of water in high rise buildings and are one of the key elements in the protection of buildings above 18 meters from fire.

As dry risers are so vital, they require regular maintenance to ensure they are always operational. Firecrest UK Ltd. offer full annual pressure tests and six monthly visual tests, which are to the current British Standard code of practice BS9990:2006.

Annual Maintenance Test

An annual test on a dry and wet risers consists of the following:

  • Pressure tested to 150PSL or 10bar for a minimum of 15 minutes.
  • All insets and outlets checked for leaks
  • Faulty components replaced
  • Missing components itemised and added
  • Flow test carried out
  • If any valves have to be replaced, a further pressure test MUST be carried out before certification can be issued

Six Monthly Visual Test

This is a thorough visual inspection of the entire system as required by BS9990:2006 and any missing, damaged or faulty components are replaced.
